Have a Sip is a short editorial for Recess about slowing down. The brand wanted to talk about calm without showing people meditating or lying on a beach, so we decided to work with something much smaller: rings, glass, ice and water, photographed close enough that you can almost hear the melt. The whole story happens in a few square centimetres, and that scale was the point.
The brief was simple, make calm look good, and the way we answered it was through time. We used long exposures, cold tones and a lot of condensation to give every image the feeling of the first sip on a hot day, when everything around you seems to pause for a second. Most frames were shot in a single continuous session as the ice slowly changed shape, and the final sequence follows that transformation from solid to liquid across the editorial.
